Our Story

Anchor Box is a wonderful Hope student-owned and managed company created for the very purpose of serving fellow Hope students and their families. College can be a stressful time so Anchor Box was created with the mission to help keep love and support from home alive no matter the distance between college and home.

Anchor Box is rooted in an idea originally proposed by a Hope mother. Mother of Owen Edlefson, a freshman business student at the time, proposed the idea of a care package business as a way for Owen to prepare for a life of entrepreneurship. Owen then turned to Andnet DeBoer, a freshman engineering major who he had befriended throughout the year and shared his passion for entrepreneurship. The two quickly began drawing up plans for Anchor Box when their friend Wesley Stewart, a freshman computer science major, overheard their plans and got in on the fun. The three freshman students filed for an LLC in early 2022, opened their website in August 2022, and have been hard at work ever since. If you see them around campus, maybe walking Rowley (Owen's Dog),  be sure to say hello.

After a productive first year of business, Owen, Andnet, and Wes figured out a lot of what worked and what didn't while providing wonderful services to grateful Hope parents and students. Excited about the future, they brought on a fourth partner to help run things for their second year, Brendan VerLee. Brendan, another Hope student in the other threes' class, came aboard to help organize the financial side of Anchor Box as an up and coming accounting major. Owen, Andnet, and Wes are very grateful for all Brendan does for Anchor Box and the joyful nature in which he does it.

Meet The Team

Our Vision

Our vision for Anchor Box is for it to grow and develop into a company that will continue to help more and more Hope students adjust to college life and stay connected to home for long after we, the student creators, have graduated from Hope. We plan to grab the attention of Hope College in efforts that they'll take Anchor Box to a whole new place, with better opportunities and resources for a bigger impact on Hope's campus and the Holland community. Please, support our vision along with your Hope students by sending care packages through us and spreading the word. It all starts here!

Our Partnered Businesses

We partner with several local businesses to offer a wider variety of products within our boxes along with helping your Hope student feel comfortable exploring the wonders of Holland! Many of our partners are in the neighboring downtown Holland area and are closely connected with Hope College.
